What is Cloud Computing?

In Cloud Computing, the word Cloud means internet. Cloud computing refers to Internet-based computing. In cloud computing, different services like servers, storage, and applications are delivered to an organization’s computers and devices through the Internet.

Cloud computing is an on-demand service that has obtained a huge demand in corporate data centers. In cloud services, the data center operates like the Internet and computing resources are accessed and shared as virtual resources in a secure and scalable manner.

In a simple description, cloud computing refers to taking services (“cloud services”) and moving them outside an organizations firewall on shared systems. In the cloud system, applications and services are accessed via the web, instead of a computer hard drive. The services are delivered and used over the Internet where a charge is paid by cloud customer typically on an “as-needed, pay-per-use” business model. The benefit is that the cloud infrastructure is managed by the cloud provider, not the individual cloud customer.

Google’s Gmail is also cloud computing. Users on Gmail can access files and applications hosted by Google via the internet from any device. This is an example of cloud computing.

Cloud infrastructure can be utilized using several different models which are defined below :

  • Private Cloud : Private cloud is usually leveraged for a single organization.
  • Public Cloud : In public cloud, services are provided over a network that is open for the use of all.
  • Community Cloud : Community cloud shares infrastructure between organizations from a specific community.
  • Hybrid Cloud : Hybrid cloud is a composition of two or more of the three previously-mentioned clouds.
  • Distributed Cloud : Distributed cloud includes public resource computing and volunteer cloud computing.
  • Multicloud
  • Big Data Cloud
  • HPC Cloud

An increasing number of businesses are rapidly moving their infrastructures to the cloud. The reasons for moving to the cloud include the high-quality security, increasing value of the cloud market, secure backups for data, the ability to access files from anywhere online, and greater scalability. Cloud computing continues to grow as time goes on. Below are some cloud computing predictions as the future of technology.

Future of Cloud Computing

According to the reports, the cloud computing business is growing. The prediction is that the six largest cloud leaders like Alibaba, Amazon Web Services [AWS], Google, IBM, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle will all grow larger. As per the reports, little serious competition emerging to challenge the cloud market leaders.

We can expect that cloud computing will quickly evolve, and become so publically available, that the concepts we label as “cloud” will be known as “computing.” Cloud vendors will solve the computer hardware problem, and we can expect infrastructure to become a commodity. The real future of cloud will be easy access and well consumption of any data and services in the cloud. Artificial Intelligence will help make these services highly available and easily consumable.

Cloud computing is linking us to a world of unlimited connectivity. In years to come people won’t be talking about individual networks and routers, everything will be the network. In the next 10-15 years, we may see the biggest change. The biggest change is small businesses doing away with buying computer towers and servers and instead, adopting Desktop as a Service (DaaS), as the method for deploying workstations to employees.

People will simply buy a monitor, keyboard, mouse a client to control the keyboard, mouse & monitor for each workstation. All of the applications, desktop appearance and compute functionality will be handled by a 3rd party cloud provider.

Regardless of the device or their location, people will essentially have the exact same computer appearance with this type of experience. It will also allow companies to more easily manage the security and deployment of computers and applications, across all devices and locations.

Furthermore, companies will never have to worry about having the latest version of the software, such as Office, Adobe, etc. During the next years, it can be predicted that more than a quarter of all applications will be available via the cloud. The developers’ focus will be updating APIs and growing their list of integrations.

On top of that, focus on interface elements and usability is also a must. Great user experience is the most experienced and the hot thing in cloud computing, so every cloud developer will keep that in mind as well in upcoming days. The security system of cloud computing and efficiency of hardware and software are always things to be considered for improvement in the upcoming future as the demand for cloud computing increases. These are the major predictions in cloud computing in the upcoming days.
